The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off a Super Bowl-winning season, have announced their Week One starter against the Atlanta Falcons.
After dispatching the New England Patriots in an instant classic Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles have opted to start the season with Nick Foles as the opening day starter.
Though Carson Wentz was responsible for the team’s sterling regular season record, he was injured for much of the team’s Cinderella run to the championship game, leaving the team in the capable hands of Nick Foles.
In the Super Bowl, Foles put on a performance for the ages — going so far as to catch a touchdown pass while his counterpart, Tom Brady, did not. Foles was responsible for 4 total TDs on the day, and his Philadelphia Eagles bested the dynastic Patriots in an epic clash.
Now, Foles has been given the nod as the Eagles’ opening day starter ahead of Wentz, even though Wentz is clearly the team’s quarterback of the future.

Once again, Foles will be given the keys to the offense and trotted out against a team that is widely regarded as one of the best in the NFC — if not the entire league.
With Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman, Keanu Neal and Deion Jones, the Falcons have a wealth of talent on both sides of the ball. Of course, so do the Eagles, as they are also widely regarded as one of the best teams in the NFC as well.
Since both Wentz and Foles could capably start for pretty much every team in the league, the Philadelphia Eagles are spoiled for choice at the quarterback position.
One thing is for certain: This upcoming NFL season is going to be one for the ages!
